Brown Law is a growing law firm specializing in family law, real estate, corporate law, known for our professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client service. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Bookkeeper to join our administrative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting tasks including trust and general account reconciliations

  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with law society guidelines and trust accounting rules

  • Prepare and issue client invoices and process payments

  • Monitor accounts receivable/payable and follow up on outstanding balances

  • Coordinate with lawyers and support staff regarding billing and time entries

  • Generate financial reports (monthly, quarterly, year-end)

  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors as needed

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal accounting standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a legal environment

  • Proficiency with legal accounting software (e.g., PCLaw, Clio, Cosmolex)

  • Strong understanding of trust accounting rules and law society regulations

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

Assets

  • Familiarity with payroll processing

  • Experience with GST/HST filings and year-end preparation

  • Knowledge of legal terminology and processes
